Electric Motor Driven Fire Pump
This image shows an electric motor driven fire pump. Unlike the previous diesel-driven pump, this pump relies entirely on electricity as its power source.
Main Components
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| Electric Motor | The large cylindrical part on the right side. Responsible for rotating the pump. |
| Pump Head | The front part on the left side. Responsible for drawing and pumping water. |
| Flexible Connector | The black pieces on the vertical pipes. Function: absorbs vibrations generated by the motor to prevent pipe breakage. |
| Electrical Junction Box | The small box mounted above the motor. Black cables extend from it to connect to the main control panel. |
| Pressure Gauge | Located at the top of the system to monitor outlet water pressure. |
| Gate Valve | The red circular valve on the left side. Used to manually control water flow. |
Advantages of Electric Fire Pump
Instant startup: Operates very quickly as soon as the electrical signal is received
Lower maintenance: No need for engine oil changes or fuel filters like diesel engines
Clean operation: Produces no exhaust fumes or very high noise levels
Answer: It is a key component of a building's fire protection system, powered by an electric motor. It is designed to provide high-pressure water flow to standpipes, sprinklers, and fire hydrants during an emergency.
